Tuetal Sur Methodist Church ~ Alejuela, Costa Rica ~ 2012
A sanctuary and educational space were completed in the small town of Alejuela just outside San Jose, Costa Rica. The church was under construction for 8 years, with many groups visiting the property and meeting various needs along the way. 54 FTW volunteers from 15 different churches labored over a 4-week period of time to complete the project. Pastor Victor Vargas and his wife Grace minister to a difficult population, influenced by the drug trade and poverty. The church has already seen lives changed, and is adding young families and children regularly. Pastor Vargas expressed his gratitude to the final team saying “ this church will stand as a testimony of the greatness of God to our entire community!”
Iglesia Evangelica Metodista ~ Las Juntas, Costa Rica ~ 2011
Finish the Wall began their 2-year commitment to Costa Rica in the quaint town of Las Juntas. The teams handled a variety of tasks such as, rewiring the education building, installing carpet, windows and doors in the sanctuary, and 72 gallons of paint over all surfaces! Acoustical ceilings and light fixtures were an amazing blessing to those who are use to operating with a simple tin roof. The Pastor spoke of another church not too far away who could also use the help of FTW. So, before the project was complete, the next year’s project was already in the making!
Triumphant Ministries ~ Trinidad and Tobago ~ 2010
FTW spent time on three different churches in Trinidad, in one form or another. The projects were identified through an earlier project when a few people from Trinidad joined a Barbados project. They came from Trinidad to experience FTW and learn the skills necessary to take home and use to build their own church. But as relationships started to bond on the trip, FTW decided to take a closer look at the project in Trinidad and see if they could help. What was originally described as a building that “just needed a ceiling” became a 2-year project for FTW as they completed an entire sanctuary & fellowship hall for Triumphant Ministries, and helped two other churches complete the initial phases of their own building projects!
